I've had an amazing experience at the Bristol Bay school. After reflecting on my entire experience here, I would really enjoy teaching in a setting similar to this. I don't know if I would enjoy the factor of being absolutely isolated from the road system, but I believe that teaching out in a rural community, such as this, would be a great experience. Out here the students are absolutely wonderful and the teachers are enthusiastic and energetic.
First off today I observed Mr. Moore’s 6th grade class. Today they were finishing up their “Cause and Effect” essays. Mr. Moore explained to me that this was a highly untraditional day but the students were extremely productive and everyone was able to complete solid papers, so in the end he was very pleased with the final results. After each student had finished each paper Mr. Moore asked them to go onto a typing website so that everyone could practice their typing skills. He stressed the importance of using home row and not looking down at the keys. Next Mr. Moore had one senior (the other two students were on a school trip) and so during this time he had the student work on his personal essay for the I AM project.
Apparently every Friday is an early out, so the schedule changed a little bit. Instead of having homeroom before lunch, the students went straight to their next class. I was super excited to go to the French class that day because Mrs. Moore had said earlier in the week that I could present a lesson plan on the last day of class. I decided to use a lesson that I had previously created for my Multicultural Education class. This lesson was a detailed song study that included the exploration of verb tenses and unique vocabulary that’s used within the chosen song.
After French was lunch time, which again was delicious. On the menu was a salmon wrap, which the kids were not too crazy about, which I thought was kind of funny because anywhere else in the world salmon is purely a luxury.
Then for the end of the end of the day I observed 10th grade and 11th grade English. Mr. Moore gave me a list of PEAK strategies and some more project ideas.

So at the end of the day I met up with Laurie while Ashley had an interview with the superintendent about interning in Bristol Bay next year. I was not surprised by her news that she got the job when she arrived home. For dinner that night when Ashley got home we checked into the airport and then went to a really local restaurant where people even knew me!
The only turbulent experience throughout this entire experience was when we flew out of King Salmon and hit some air pockets. Other than that it was smooth sailing and I had such a good and productive time!
