day 2: Versailles
So after being at Versailles for a few hours we then went back to Paris, you must understand that Louis XIV was so egotistical that he was too good to live in Paris. He had to build up his own land. So after a morning in Versailles we then went to the Musée d'Orsay, which I did a report on in 9th grade. So I guess it was pretty exciting to finally be going to a place that I could only report on until now. I must admit, I am not really into modern art, therefore for me it was a huge letdown after Versailles. You'll be able to see what I mean by looking at some of the pictures that I "apparently" wasn't supposed to take:( For some floors taking pictures was (interdit)= forbidden but some floors were ok. I guess I didn't get the memo. |
That night we went out for dinner as a group and afterwards I was super exhausted from only getting about 3 hours of sleep.
encore à paris (Still in Paris)
After the cathedral we went to the Lovre and I was able to meet up with my friend Hélène, from French club at UAF. I actually didn't take a picture of our meeting, darn it, but it was nice to see a familiar face. So while the rest of the group was eating, I anxiously was killing time before meeting with Hélène. I went to a bookstore and also bought a gossip magazine.
Au revoir paris!
Today we just went and saw the Eiffel Tower, which in itself was exciting. The Eiffel Tower is the epitome of Paris and it was really exciting to finally be going up it. Fun fact: The Eiffel Tower takes 50 tons of paint when it is painted and it takes 3 years to paint it! I can't even imagine. How do people even go about painting it. I would venture to say that they would need some serious scaffolding!
